Shots on Target

Posted: 17th October 2012

Footstats have just had an update from our data source concerning this seasons's shots on target data.

"It appears that the shots data from ESPN this season is not reliable for the English and Scottish divisions. Whilst much of the English lower league shots data appear to be missing goals from the shots count, the Premiership shots data appears to be overestimating actual values on many occasions. I have queried ESPN twice about this but they seem unable to do anything about it. Hence I have replaced all this season's data for the 5 English divisions and the Scottish Premiership with data taken from the BBC football pages. Going forward for the rest of this season I will continue to use that source for these leagues."

So please note that shots and shots on target data will now have changed for this season.
