If you are a football fan, there’s a lot to look forward to during the current transfer window that started on Monday, July 27. This post looks at the most exciting moves in the EPL and the expected impact of these moves.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Southampton – Tottenham)
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one of the players who has generated a lot of interest over the last season. Since joining Southampton from Bayern Munich in 2016, the Denmark international has made 134 appearances and scored five goals.
His refusal to sign a contract extension saw him stripped of the captaincy. Everton had also shown interest in the player but his desire to work with José Mourinho convinced the Dane to move to North London.
Ferran Torres (Valencia - Manchester City]
Ferran Torres is one of the biggest transfers and City’s first summer signing. The move worth £20.87m. This is Pep Guardiola’s plan to check against the loss of Germany forward Leroy Sane.
Willian (Chelsea to Arsenal)
It was no secret that Willian wanted a move from Stamford Bridge after contract talks collapsed. Arsenal was waiting on the side lines and this has now become one of the top transfer deals this summer. The 32-year-old confirmed his 7-year stay at Chelsea had come to an end. He becomes Mikel Arteta’s first signing.
Jadon Sancho to Manchester United?
The most interesting soccer news in the EPL transfer market has revolved around Borussia Dortmund striker Jadon Sancho. His planned move to Manchester United has been in the news for the longest time. So far, Man United has remained optimistic about a deal.
However, the German club doesn’t seem enthusiastic about losing their talented player. Could this be a case of close yet too far for Manchester United or will this go down to the wire?
Jack Grealish to Man United or Man City?
It’s very optimistic for Aston Villa chief executive Christian Purslow to expect to hold on to Jack Grealish. The 24-year-old captain has generated a lot of interest from Manchester United. The club could make a move should their bid for Jadon Sancho fail. Manchester City has also shown interest in Grealish, valued at £80 million.
Kostas Tsimikas (Olympiakos – Liverpool)
Liverpool has already indicated they wouldn’t make big moves during the transfer period. However, they still went for Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiakos for a reported fee of £11.7m.
The 24-year-old left-back will compete with Andy Robertson for a starting position. He has three caps for Greece and has 86 appearances for Olympiakos in all competitions.
Nathan Ake (Bournemouth - Manchester City)
Manchester City is slowly boosting its ranks in a bid to challenge for the title. Their acquisition of Nathan Ake for a reported fee of £40m is an attempt to find an apt replacement for Vincent Kompany. The Bournemouth centre-back is part of the defensive reinforcements.
